Deep Hanging Out: Eostre’s Embrace
School of Love
Deep Hanging Out is een terugkerend en participatief evenement van de School of Love, gewijd aan samen leren en het beoefenen van liefdespraktijken. Het is een reis van collectieve reflectie, rituelen, lezingen en performances.
In Eostre’s Embrace nodigen we je uit om samen met ons de verbinding te vieren tussen de paasthema’s van wedergeboorte en de oude tradities van vruchtbaarheid en vernieuwing die met de lente verbonden zijn.
Wat valt er vandaag te vieren, met een gebroken hart?
In een wereld die soms hard en onrechtvaardig aanvoelt, waar oude zekerheden niet langer werken, en waar grenzen ons niet meer definiëren, zoeken we naar iets om ons aan vast te houden.
Bij SOL geloven we dat vieren een manier is om te overleven. Het helpt ons verbonden te blijven met vreugde, hoe klein die soms ook voelt. Vreugde houdt ons in beweging en geeft ons de kracht om door te gaan.
Daarom nodigen we je uit om dit Paasfeest samen met ons opnieuw vorm te geven. Niet alleen als een viering van de lente, maar als een moment van transformatie. Net zoals de natuur zich vernieuwt, kunnen wij dat ook. Maar verandering betekent ook loslaten—oude gewoontes, vastgeroeste ideeën, identiteiten die niet meer passen.
Met rituelen, reflectie, verhalen en performances onderzoeken we hoe we onszelf opnieuw kunnen uitvinden. Hoe we, net als de natuur, onze oude huid kunnen afwerpen en ruimte maken voor iets nieuws.
Mensen, slangen, eieren, kippen en beweging—ze zullen ons begeleiden op deze bijzondere reis. Doe je mee?
Breng een oud kledingstuk mee dat je wilt loslaten – iets met een verhaal, een herinnering of gewoon een kledingstuk dat wacht op een nieuw hoofdstuk. Deze kledingstukken worden onderdeel van onze viering en verweven jouw verleden in ons gezamenlijke ritueel.

Deep Hanging Out is a recurrent and participatory event of School of Love dedicated to co-learning and to performing love practices. At this time of the year, we will gather for an alternative celebration of the ancient tradition of Easter.
What is there to celebrate today, with such a broken heart
From violence, injustice and a world that turned hard?
When we realise that the tools we have don’t protect us anymore
That what we know cannot make us smarter
That the ideas we possess take us nowhere
And the borders we built don’t define us any longer
We want to honor celebrations as a survival tool
That allows staying connected to our human capacity of joy
To generate the dose of joy that keeps us active, in movement.
SOL invites you to reappropriate this Easter festivity with us, as a dedication to the cycle of dying, death, rebirth and maturity. To celebrate how spring dresses us all with new looks and energies, but to remember that there is no dressing up without striping ourselves of what we just wore, and without the risk of losing the skin that protected what we were before.
Through collective reflection, rituals, readings and performances, we will search for the pleasure in changing our skin, in leaving dead cells, old struggles and stiff identities behind, in order to emerge anew.
People, snakes, eggs, chickens and movement will be leading us through this journey.
Please bring along an old piece of clothing you’re ready to let go of — something with a story, a memory, or simply a piece that’s been waiting for a new chapter.
These garments will become part of our celebration weaving your past into our common ritual.
School Of Love (SOL) is a collective based in Brussels. Members of SOL have various artistic backgrounds. They develop collective artistic practices, which invite people to explore ways and skills of being and acting together. They do this by approaching love as a mode of engagement in political and social spheres, rather than only as a personal matter. Love carries qualities of embodied attention and emotional availability, its more than a feeling: it’s a choice, a practice, an intention.
