A conversation (and a snack) with Samah Hijawi
Samah Hijawi presents a lecture performance that combines Palestinian artworks, with reflections on the social contract of art. Meanwhile she ties these in with the personal and everyday conversation she is having with people from the global south, mainly her family and friends from Jordan and Palestine.
In this conversation, Samah invites us to think of this historical moment as a chance to learn from our different political and social realities, and to think how we want our futures to look like away from the polarised discourses in mainstream media.
The performance will be accompagnied with a Zatar snack and tea, and will be followed by a conversation with the audience.

Samah Hijawi presenteert een lecture-performance die Palestijnse kunstwerken combineert met bedenkingen op het sociale contract van kunst. Ondertussen verbindt ze deze met de persoonlijke en alledaagse gesprekken die ze voert met mensen uit de zuidelijke regio, vooral haar familie en vrienden uit Jordanië en Palestina.
Samah nodigt ons in het gesprek uit om het huidige historische momentum als een kans aan te grijpen om te leren van onze verschillende politieke en sociale realiteiten. En om na te denken over hoe we willen dat onze toekomst eruit ziet, los van de gepolariseerde discoursen in de reguliere media.
Bij de voorstelling krijgt u een Zater snack en thee aangeboden.
